When former Justice Minister Mohamed Jameel Ahmed was asked whether one of the reasons for him resigning from the Cabinet post in early August included a rumored Governmental decision to illegally give an island for resort development to Abdulla Jabir, the former had said that that was also among the reasons for his resignation.Jabir is a close associate of Abdulla Yamin, the half brother of President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, who is presently trying to distance himself from the Gayoom administration by resigning from his Cabinet post, and persuading his close associates like Jabir, to distance themselves from ruling Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party activities.
